An Inked Page

So... I'm not what I would call an inker. I understand the basics of it, but since I'm primarily a pencil kind of guy, I've never gotten a lot of practice with the inking side of things. I am trying to go all "one-man-show" on my own graphic novel, however, so I'm finding I have to pull skills out of my theory box and install them in my active skills (oh, if only it were that easy). Reading hints and tips from other inkers, one piece of advice stands out as a universal truth... to get good at inking, you have to practice. It's been a minute since I posted anything in here, it's just that I haven't had a whole lot to report. I've been working in pencil, then scanning into the computer to try to work on my inks, then hoping to get to the point I can do my colors and letters. So far, the workflow hasn't been great. I've been working slowly on the writing and pencils for my graphic novel, The Shadow Box. It's such slow going because I have so little time to actually work on it. Couple that with the fact that I decided to redraw the first chapter because I wanted to go a different direction with the art, and you have a project that's taking far longer than it really should. Be that as it may, tonight I uploaded the first 4 pages of chapter one. This is a big step for me, because I don't like people to see my unfinished work, and while the penciling for these pages is done, the work as a whole is unfinished. At the same time, however, I want to be able to

Thanks for the Watch, and welcome to dA!
Thank you very much. Was looking through some of the Deviations from Manga Studio's group, saw your cover design, and was blown away. I've been drawing off and on for around 30 years, and I WISH I could get to the level you're at. Working on t, but still.. heh. Beautiful work, sir, thanks for sharing it with all of us!
